Sloping South Shore
Prince Edward County slopes gradually downwards from north to south. Near Ostrander's Point on the south shore, a lone tree clings gamely to crevices in the limestone as the sedimentary ledge slips gently beneath the waters of Lake Ontario. A boulder in the foreground was left behind by a melting glacier more than 12,000 years ago.
